# Water always flows down, not up.
  • Što je bilo, bilo je. # Let the dead bury their dead.
  • Pomenulo se, ne povratilo se. # It’s dead and buried. * God forbid it should happen again.
  • Istorija se ponavlja. # History repeats itself.
# It is better to be a has-been than a never-was.

STID

# No one can disgrace us but ourselves.
  • Ko izgubi sram ljudski, izgubi i strah božiji. # He who has no shame before the world, has no fear before God.

KAJANJE

  • Kasno Janko na Kosovo stiže. # It’s too late to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted.
# What’s done cannot be undone. * Scrambled eggs cannot be unscrambled. * A broken egg cannot be put back together.
# Better be safe than sorry.

PRAŠTANJE

  • Ko priznaje, pola mu se prašta. # A fault confessed is half forgiven.
  • Treba oprostiti i zaboraviti. # Forgive and forget.
(Oče naš) # Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. (Lord’s Prayer)
