“Dear Lord, I still haven’t started working on my English. Tomorrow maybe. If only I had started learning English last year, I would have been able to apply for this amazing job. Oh no, I have this presentation coming up soon, how can I possibly speak in front of all of those people. I mean, what do I do about my grammar. And what if the investor asks me something?“… Sounds familiar?
Well, if you are reading this, you actually do not need to start. You need to take this baby home. Perfect your English. That’s what you need. If you don’t have someone to guide you through the process, here is some advice that can help in achieving this goal. Listen to the BBC radio online, watch films with English subtitles, speak whenever you possibly can, read magazines in English or something else that interests you, talk to yourself when you are alone.. 🙂 I know it sounds silly, but please try it. You don’t have to tell anyone! There is this fantastic app that you can download – microphone! Press record and simply talk about whatever you want to. Nobody can hear you, so don’t worry if you make mistakes. Your goal is to set yourself free from your own judgement.
And don’t forget to play. Pretend that you are English. Keep a diary in English. Write letters that you don’t have to send. And I promise you, the shift will happen. Go for it!
